The 4 most beautiful waterfalls on Koh Samui 2022

Aktualisiert: 14. Sept. 2022

When you leave the main road 4169 inland to Koh Samui, the roads get steeper and steeper. In some places, you can drive so high inland that you even notice much lower temperatures. We recommend visiting the following waterfalls to anyone who asks us about activities on Koh Samui.

Na Muang Waterfall

The Namuang Waterfalls are the most popular on the island. They are located in the southern part of Koh Samui and offer great pools for cooling off or cliff jumping. The first one is about 4 minutes by scooter from the main road. You can park your scooter for 20 baht, buy some drinks and snacks from the locals on site and reach the waterfall by foot just a minute after parking. It is perfect on hot days, as otherwise you often have to walk long distances through the jungle to reach a waterfall.

Na Muang Waterfall 2

We first want to point out that you must always be aware that climbing waterfalls can be very dangerous. There have been two fatal accidents at Na Muang Waterfall 2 in the last three years. So be sure to stay on the designated path and only cross the water where you cannot fall or slide too far.

The waterfall is beautiful and offers several levels up to a beautiful pool with views at its top. Before Covid-19, it was popular with tourists, and locals built slides on the slope, but these are now out of use. The place itself now feels like a lost place.

Hin Lad Waterfall

You can reach the car park of Hin Lad Waterfall from the western part of the main road in about 3 minutes by scooter. You can park for free at Wat Namtok Hin Lat. From there, you have to hike a rather difficult jungle trail for 30-40 minutes. We recommend sturdy shoes and the offline map app Maps.Me to reach your destination safely. A beautiful pool awaits you when you arrive, but a much smaller waterfall than the first two. Nevertheless, the jungle adventure is worth it.

Lat Wanon Waterfall

Another small waterfall is a few minutes south of Hin Lad waterfall. Not many tourists visit this place as it is not too spectacular. So if you are looking for a private experience without other tourists, we recommend this place. You may well find yourself all alone at the site.
